TITLE: Prototypes for a Human Body
DATE: 2002
MEDIA: sculpture (satin, beading, digital tranfer prints, labware, organic material from the artist )
DESCRIPTION:

Experiments in biological couture

The construction of the body in culture is a process of inscribing difference through language and symbol, through clothing our genome in a skin of desire. The construction of the body through science is based in the mapping of its materiality, and the mediated experience of its encoded information. These garments collapse the space between fetishized object and catlogued specimen; fitted precisely to our prediscursive bodies.
