A series of sculptures based on mounted specimes in the natural history museums and archives of Rome, Bologna, and Florence dating from the 17th to the early 20th century. I was interested in the different techniques for preserving living things, both in parts and as a whole. Through recreating wooden armitures, wire stands, glass enclosures and hand-lettered labels I gained an understanding of how versions of nature were carefully crafted in these exhibits. |
